Sunday morning is a time of excitement and celebration here at Community Gospel. Some have said that the only thing you can count on is that every service will be different. We have a time of praise and worship - something we take very seriously. We are called to be a praise unto the Lord. That is a calling He placed upon us several years ago.
We believe there are many ways to praise the Lord and encourage folks to step out and worship Him in various ways. You will see folks raising their hands, dancing, waving flags and banners, clapping their hands, and some just being quiet in the presence of God. Jesus said that if He were lifted up from the earth, He would draw all people to Him. That is why we lift Him up in praise and worship. As we praise, He draws people by the Spirit to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. This scripture and principle goes even further. We are told that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. As we praise and worship Him, we are lifted from where we are to those Heavenly places with the Lord.
When attending service at CGC, you can expect to hear an inspiring sermon from the Word of God. While we clearly have a calling to the GLBT community, sermons are not geared to affirm sexual orientation. We offer classes as well as counseling services with that focus. Sermons are geared to bring the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Scripture is a valuable tool in direction, correction, and encouragement.
An invitation for prayer is extended in many of the services. This time of prayer is a vital part of our ministry. We pray for every need presented, whether it be salvation, healing, financial problems, or whatever is requested. Even if a specific time is not offered for prayer during a service, we encourage you to ask one of the pastors after service if you would like prayer.
We normally offer Communion on the first and third Sundays of the month. We do practice an open Communion, meaning you do not have to be a member of any particular church to participate. The only qualification is that you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
