CGC - 2010 "Priscilla" Award Winner
Best Non-Profit Float

Community Gospel's 2010 float was chosen as the best non-profit entry.  The float featured a stage, lighting, live band, and vocal performance.  A huge thank you goes out to everyone who worked so hard to make this year's float such a success.  A very special thanks to Tim and Michelle for the MANY hours spent designing and building our entry.  Look below for pics from the parade.

FOUR PART SUNDAY SCHOOL SERIES

JULY 11TH 9:30 AM
The initial lesson in the series will deal with doubt.  It seems as though most - if not all of us have doubts at some point in our Christian walk.  This Sunday, we will explore the cause and cure according to scripture.

JULY 25TH 9:30 AM
Worry is the topic of the day.  Do you find yourself having a sense of anxiety and worry about the future?  God does not intend for His kids to go through life stressing over things we cannot change.  Don't miss this valuable lesson on destressing as we learn the Biblical principles of kicking worry to the curb.

AUGUST 1ST 9:30 AM
Our third lesson in this series deals with depression.  This Sunday, we will deal with the areas of depression we can have control over.  Jesus died so we could have a happy and productive life.  Be with us as we discover some valuable tools to help us as we deal with this very real problem.

AUGUST 8TH 9:30 AM

This week will be a wrap up of the series.  Bring any unanswered questions you have about doubt, worry, and depression and we will seek out Biblical answers together.

Pride Parade 2010

If you are visiting our website as a result of the Pride Parade, welcome!  We gave away 5,000 hacky-sacs with our web address printed on them.  We are trusting the Holy Spirit to draw folks to Jesus through the efforts we made during the parade and festival.
If you felt that gentle tugging on your heart, it is the Lord inviting you into a close and personal relationship with Him.  He made it so simple, you can begin that relationship right now.  We are told in the Bible that if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  There are no exclusions ... God loves YOU ... your sexual orientation, gender identity, race, economic status, or any other barrier you may think separates you from God's love is done away with!

This year's float was nothing short of fab-u-lous!  It featured part of our worship team - Sven, Christa, Marti, Keith, and Kyle.  They sang and played "A New Hallelujah!"  The crowd was so very receptive as we came down the parade route with music playing and lights flashing.  Most of all, we knew the Holy Spirit was sending out a very clear message ... God's love does not discriminate!
We do want to thank all of the folks who worked so hard on making our entry a success - Michelle, Kelly, Tim, Donna, Marti, Robert, and everyone else who helped out.

Kidz Krew Open House!
August 14th will be a special day here Community Gospel.  We are hosting an open house for children ages 5-12 and their parents.  The event will begin at 11: am and will last about one hour.  Parents will be able to see Kidz Krew in action as we teach a Bible lesson, play games to reinforce the principles learned, have a little food, and even take a trip to the Bible Market.
If you have a child in this age group, please come and be our guest for this fun and informative time of fellowship.

Get Your Copy of "For Such A Time As This"

"For Such A Time As This" is the story of the birthing of an incredible ministry.  Evelyn Schave was one of those preachers from the "old school" condemning everything from make up (yes, even on women) to men with long hair - not to mention the "H" word.  But something wonderful happened ... "God got a hold of her".  Evelyn and her husband Dennis have changed their message to one of love and acceptance focusing on the GLBT community.  Who would have thought a couple from the Pentecostal denomination would end up as Honorary Grand Marshals for the Gay Pride Parade?  "For Such A Time  As This" is the story of how this ministry began and how far they have come.  While the initial printing of the book was several years ago, additional pictures and captions have given it a new life.
If you would like your copy of "For Such A Time As This", please send your name and address with your request to:
Community Gospel Church

Houston, TX  77008
We are not charging a fee for the book, but proceeds from donations will go for printing and shipping costs.  All funds above these costs will go to Schave Ministries.
